  • Employee Training or Lose $152 Million

    Yeah, that's $152,000,000.00

    http://www.suntimes.com/business/737...011108.article

Basically Ace Hardware promoted someone in the acounting department but did not provide them with the training needed for the job back in 2002. The person tried to do the job to the best of their abilities, but since they were not trained properly, they made mistakes. Mistakes that now five years later total over $152 million an the investigation to find and correct these mistakes will cost at least $10 million.

Oh and "The poorly trained employee, who worked in the finance department at the co-op’s headquarters in Oak Brook, is no longer employed at Ace Hardware, Griffith said."

    Duh

I assign 80% liability to the nimrods who let someone with no accounting experience do their accounting, and 20% to the nimrod who didn't know accounting but chose to give it a shot anyways.

If you have to ask, it's probably better posted at www.fratching.com
