  • Don't try to hack accounts.... (PWNED!)

    http://img2.freeimagehosting.net/ima...4dad5a2d09.png

    this is funny...!

Someone on a site called "Steam Community" made an account called "BOT_3902" and basically started messaging people, claiming to work for the site, asking for PW verification...

here's the convo from the photo. (total PWNAGE!)
Bot_3902: To verify that you are the owner of the account and to continue playing, please verify that you are the rightful owner by typing your username and password (username/password).

    (*IK*): Who is this?

    Bot_3902: I work for Steam.

(*IK*): I thought Steam was a program?

    (*IK*): Don't you mean Valve?

    Bot_3902: No.

Bot_3902: I work on the Steam site.

    (*IK*): What is your name?

    Bot_3902: John.

(*IK*): What exactly is the problem?

    (*IK*): Just wondering.

Bot_3902: Someone Has been Trying to get into your account as our system says.

Bot_3902: To verify that you are the owner of the account and to continue playing, please verify that you are the rightful owner by typing your username and password (username/password).

    (*IK*): Hey, uh John.

(*IK*): Let me tell you something

(*IK*): In case you didn't know

(*IK*): I'm the admin of the CS group... and I do work for Valve.

    (*IK*): So good job.

(*IK*): Within a few days this account will be terminated.

    Bot_3902 is now offline.
update: sadly i just read online that the bot got at least one person to give up the info. that's sad

The Steam Community is the networking system used by Valve for communication between friends that are playing Steam games (Half-Life 2, Counter-Strike: Source, Portal, Team Fortress 2, etc.) at the same time. With the community it's easy to get in touch with your friends and to see whether they're currently online and which games they're playing at the moment.

It says in more than one place that a Valve employee will never ask a user (player) for their password, in order to prevent scams such as the one this shithead attempted.

It's pretty satisfying to see that he's too stupid to realize that A) some of the players work for Valve, B) nobody works "for Steam", C) it says in multiple places that what he's doing will never come from a Valve employee, and D) he's just been PWNED!
