  • Obscene message on diners' bill

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/e...re/7253002.stm

Some diners were billed for an unusual item after complaining about poor service! Looks like it was comped, though...

The owner/ manager said the customer should never have seen that . . .basically it was for in house only.
Why would there even be an option for that in a established business system?

At least it was a zero charge service!

I bet it turns out one of the customers said that to their server while ordering, so he put it on the bill!

That was pretty dumb of them; since every server knows you're supposed to write obscene things on your own personal notepad. If customers saw mine, I'd SO be fired....

I like how the manager said "They were never supposed to see that."

Which means it has happened before, and will probably happen again. Sounds like a fun place to work.

Well what was that doing on the menu then?

Has anyone here ever been to Garfields?

It's one of those restaurants where you can color on the tablecloth (made of paper, obviously). It's mostly for kids, but it doesn't stop perverted youngsters like my friends and me from drawing penises and other random icky things.

One time, a server said he would keep the tablecloth we drew on. He wanted our "autographs" as well.

Let's just compare our penises to the ones that Seth drew in Superbad.

lol, that reminds me of a story about a bunch of people who wanted separate bills. To help keep track of who ordered what, the server wrote descriptions of them on the bills. She thought she erased them all until one of the customers said "hi, I'm Fat Man."

He has also offered to donate the bill for their meal to charity.
along with offering them another meal.

wow i didn't realize donating to charity makes up for putting "Suck my d**k f**k face" as an item on a bill

I would think it'd be better to remove the option from the system
and if they want to donate money they could always pay someone to teach them about what is and isn't appropriate behavior.

Well, I'd personally rather have that than the fish cakes.

yeah except i think they're suppose to be on the receiving end of it and not the customer

either that or they're opening a very creative restaraunt-brothel...

Anyone's SC-spider-sense tingle at this part?

She added: "I'd like a written apology from the restaurant and I'd also like some compensation.
Now this was obviously a very wrong thing for the restaurant to do, and I'm not denying that, but when someone's reaction is GIVE MEEEE MONEEEEEEEEEY I have to wonder.

I mean, if this happened to me I'd either laugh or punch someone in the face. I'm fairly certain my first reaction wouldn't be to ask for compensation.
