  • Let the SCs begin.

Supposed someone who works in retail tells everyone the inside scoop on retail stores.

Sorry I have NEVER seen anywhere that will honor a sale price the day before or after a sell if you just ask for it. (That's tip number 3.)

My store will sometimes honor sale prices the day before or the day after...I'm assuming this means that a customer comes in and knows something will be on sale or came in a day or two late for a sale and not for a sales adjust...our unwritten policy depends on several things:

      1. Who you ask.
      2. HOW you ask.
      3. What the purchase is.

You ask the right person in a pleasant way and you might get your sale price. You more than likely will, in most cases, especially if it'll be a large sale for the store that we otherwise wouldn't have gotten.

It's not something we do everyday and it relies heavily on how the customer presents themselves.

I can tell you right now that NONE of that will work at Staples, ever (at least at my Staples).

Wow, gotta love the tip that basically tells people "Damage merchandise! If you just damage the packaging, you'll get a deal!" I can't believe this person hasn't run across a retailer that says "Sorry, damaged merchandise can't be sold."

where I used to work, you got the sale price before or after ONLY if someone was stupid enough to put the new stickers out before/leave them out after and the customer actually brought said sticker to the counter. We had the honor it sadly. But from memory it only happened once.

therein lies a problem esp in this age of 5 million carmeras in a store. they see you purposely damaging something they can and should have you arrested for intentionally damaging PRIVATE property. until you pay for something and the transfer of ownership is complete, the item is STILL the legal property of the store. sorry full price only and jail time esp if they have proof of intentional damage. intention to buy is not that same thing as owning it in a legal sense.

it would be like you chopping off your neighbors porch but claiming no involvement when asked to make resitiution

O_o it's like the person who wrote this had a strong hate for everyone in retail and decided to do something about it. Man I hate these people.
