UT Police Bulletin

I do not have a copy of this bulletin but my SO just called me at work since I work late near downtown regarding something thats going on tonight.

UT Police apparently became aware of a gang initiation that is going on tonight, their goal is to ram cars and cause a car accident and when you stop after being hit to get insurance information your going to be shot supposedly. Ofcourse she told me she had no idea what part of town specifically this is happening. But fyi to anyone working late here in Houston, TX near or around Downtown or the Medical Center.

I wonder if this is any more legitimate than the old urban legend about a supposed gang initiation going after people who flash their lights.

My bet is that it's scarelore.

Ah, I tried looking for something on that but did not find it. I sort of figured it was a hoax cause I have heard about the whole flashing headlights one.

i've kinda had the same thought... these guys aren't to bright if they are joining a gang so I wouldn't put it beneath them to steal ideas off the internet...

Well, locally where I am at...there as been something similiar like that occurring.

It's happened twice.

Someone would rear end you and when you got out of the car to look at the damage/exchange information, the person in the other car would have a gun and they'd rob you at gunpoint.

Here's a story about it.

So, everyone just be cautious...I mean, this probably isn't happening in your city, but I guess it can be a reminder to watch out for yourself.

You should always be aware of your surroundings. There have been rapists who pose as cops or who pull stunts like the bump to get people to come face to face with them somewhere secluded. They've been doing this sort of thing since the 60's, at least, so it's not like it's something new and unusual.
