He shouldn't have cheated on his taxes. It's not like he was short on cash or anything.

He had no excuse for cheating on his taxes for 3 years. Just because you're rich and famous doesn't always mean you get a slap on the wrist from the law.

Not sure if it counts as cheating, he'd bought into the whole "Tax Protester" thing

Regardless of whether taxes truly are unlawful, you just can't mess with the government's money and expect nothing to happen.

Ok, the reason they give for giving him the harsh sentence is just plain wrong. Because the media is portraying the jurors' verdicts on the various counts as a "victory" they're going to give him the absolute maximum punishment they can so he won't be perceived as having gotten less than his due because he was famous, even though the jury sided with him when he claimed that he was misled by tax advisors.

I agree that he should have to pay up. The article seems to suggest that he agrees that he should have to pay at least something (he's already paid $5 mil, which is probably about 30% of what he owes). But I don't like that they're "making an example" of him.

I have to agree with the 'making an example' thing. He should get what others get, or there is no equality in justice. Sure, it should make a much bigger impact in the news, but other deliberate evaders should get the same treatment.
