    Orlando - owner abandons her house with a dog locked in it's crate.

    Story is not for the squeamish.

    The charges are a slap on the wrist anyway.

    Also, the owner is "good friends" (hopefully not anymore) with someone who works with German Shepherd rescue, all it would have taken was a call.

    Second, there was a 20 pound back of dog food less than 10 feet away from the crate.

    The court of public opinion will be justifiably harsh on this one. I hope her new roomie kicks her out for that shit. Especially since she's using said roomie's dislike of dogs as her reason.

      What a sicko! I hope that she's also never allowed to have children, cause if she's willing to do that to a dog i would hate to think what she would do to kids.

        I would seriously LOVE to lock that biotch in a crate and put some food just out of her reach and then let her starve.
        I read that story, then looked at my sweet little dogs laying on the sofa sleeping and I felt completely sick.
        If she ever gets another pet I hope it eats her.

          Folks, you're missing what actually happened. "Abrams told detectives that the water had been turned off at the house in January and she had to move."

          The dog didn't die of starvation. It died of dehydration, a much crueler torture. And much quicker. It wouldn't have lasted a week.

          As for her... There are times when I wish that the justice system could do more. She's one of them.

            It is really completely irrelevant whether the dog died of thirst or starvation.

            And it's also completely irrelevant that the water was turned off since the dog was locked in a cage. It couldn't have gotten water even if there had been some.

            The only thing that matter is that the owner was a stupid, cold, heartless, piece of shit who thought that forcing the dog to die of neglect was somehow the best option.

              No, it's not totally irrelevant.

              From everything I've ever heard, dying of dehydration is worse than dying of starvation. More painful. The only merciful aspect of it is that it's quicker (less than a week for humans, versus up to two months).

              The only reason to mention the water being turned off was to point out that the dog couldn't have possibly been given water.

              The only thing she could have done to make it worse would have been vivisection.

              I wanted to make sure that people understood just how vicious what she did was. I just didn't say enough to make sure that point got across.

                      The woman is a sociopath. She KNEW what would happen and still thought it was the "best option", didn't care one bit about what could happen... When my mom and I would be moving every few years, the first thing we would do is make sure the cats were safe and happy for a week or so at a friend's.

                      I'm sure any number of people would have adopted the dog, either directly or she could have taken it to the ASPCA. There is absolutely NO excuse for what she did, it mystifies me why animal cruelty laws can be so lax.

                        She was (no longer is because of this) friends wth one of the area coordinators for German shepherd rescue (and knew it).

                        Finding a place for the dog would have only taken a phone call.

                        (I'm friends with the coordinator's sister so this is hitting very close to me).
