  • Coerced confessions?!? This just happened to me!

Except, it was the LP manager instead of manager; it was suspicious register activity not a missing drop; and I didn't get fired...they're just "watching me"; and they tried damn hard to coerce a false confession so much so that it got me angry. They had the same fake "proof" props too...looks like they didn't learn their lesson with Mr. Robles.

I'm seriously thinking about filing a complaint against the LP manager. I was happy and on a good sales roll...he's ruined my mood!!!

Admin, Even though I work for this company (for now anyway) please let this post stand to show that companies are doing this when their LP department slows in its busy work and starts fishing for bad behavior.

It's wrong and all should be educated! Google "Coerced Confessions" before it blindsides you all. If I had known what I know now, I would've been sarcastic by admitting to flushing tampons down the toilet or drinking the motor oil, instead of having a panic attack and crying in the bathroom because they frightened me with mental trickery.

You have the right to behave badly. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a blog of my choice.

It is actually not uncommon. A friend of mine went though this at a grocerey store she worked at. I even suspect that it happened at my staples under one of the managers we had, too.

That manager off the bat was wrong in refusing to allow him to leave the room. Unless the manager is an officer or has been deputized by the police department then he had no right to detain him like that. THAT alone far outweighs any theft issue and is grounds to get sued.

yup, in that case, you call the bluff and phone the police and cite unlawful confinement. If that "proof"had enough justification for an arrest, the officer would have been there already.

By calling their bluff, they now are in trouble. They can get nailed for the unlawful confinement, and if they bring up the theft incident, then the police will demand the proof, which they don't have. So they can either face the charge for false imprisonment, or get an additional charge of false arrest.

Big corporations do lots of flat-out illegal things to their employees everyday because most people don't know enough to know their own rights.

Hell, until the whole ordea that Michael Crowe went through in 1998, the police had no provisions against doing that same exact thing to children. You'd have thought they'd have learned a thing or two with the whole McMartin debacle.

I hope that if there is another trial that the jury awards Robles an even bigger amount in punative damages.

and those who do know their rights and complain get 8-balled for promotions or labeled as "troublemakers". I was one such person because we had to solder in rooms with little to no ventilation.

Being an asthmatic, it wasn't good for me. (Just Google MSDS and flux)

this happened to a coworker of mine at HyVee. Managers accused him of stealing, said they had "proof." Friend asked to see the proof and somehow, they magically no longer had it. Kept accusing him and trying to get him to confess. My friends doesn't take crap from anyone for anything, and he's not the kind to steal. My friend not so kindly told the managers to F--- off, and then quit on the spot.

Remembering back I actually went though this years ago when working for a computer company (I wonder ig I blocked it or just forgot?). One of our distributors accused me of trying to steal monitors from them. Sure enough, he took me back there and they drilled me for hours. One guy was going to finger me (who wasn't there coincidently). The owner of my company was telling me to just fess up.

The guy finally came in, I could hear him outside say that it was me but when he came in he said it wasn't me. I told them all to f-off and when we got back to the shop I quit on the spot. (The only time I've quit a job on the spot).

Karma struck back. A friend of mine who still worked there destroyed all documentation that we worked there and just before she quit she reported him to the IRS for the hundreds of thousands that he made but didn't report and gave distributors that he owed hundreds of thousands of dollars to his contact information.
