And now I'm itching to go on a road trip (of course the furthest I've driven is 3 hours.....)

The car they used was a 2005 Scion XB, chosen for its relatively spacious interior and good gas mileage... According to Josh, observed fuel economy was improved from an average of 29 mpg when he first bought it, to 31.3 mpg on the trip.
And they think that's good gas mileage? To my understanding, the Scion XB is a subcompact. I've got a compact wagon that gets around 30 MPG in mixed city/highway (my actual measurements). Before that, I had a subcompact hatchback roughly the size of the XB that got nearly 40, again in mixed city/highway - and when I took a transcontinental road trip (point "a" to point "b" and back, not trying to fill a checklist) I got around 45.
Any fool can piss on the floor. It takes a talented SC to shit on the ceiling.
