  • Gordon Ramsay on Arrogant SCs

Edit: Thanks for moving it for me!

Here's a link of Gordon Ramsay talking back to a customer. It might be undeserved rudeness or even scripted TV, but it's pretty funny. Who hasn't thought about saying something like this to an SC?

    Um
    Wow
Ramsay WAS a little OTT, but the customer should've realised that
    a) He has trainees working with him
    b) he DID apologise and say "we're terribly sorry, but we're about 7 tables behind at the moment"
    c) Instead of accepting it gracefully, the customer just said "I don't understand what's so hard about serving people their food".

That was a little sucky, esp since there was an apology.

Yeah but those "customers" are what we have known as the "stereotypical Californian": obnoxious, extremely self-centered, and care only about themselves, their pressed suits, botox, and boob jobs. Gordon, being an outsider (as in from literally halfway across the world and fed up with people's shit from having a rough life), is certainly NOT ready to "Play Suckup" and try to assimilate with assholes like that. With the wealth he has, there's not really any real incentive for him to either.

I can't believe people go to his restaurant and don't watch hell kitchen or kitchen nightmare.

I probably won't eat at his restaurant (because he probably won't open one in my area). But I know to never bother Chef Ramsay when he's in his kitchen.
I've lost my mind ages ago. If you find it, please hide it.

Customer interaction is my *favourite* part of Hell's Kitchen. Because its always some entitlement whore that blows off JP ( the maitre d ) and walks right up to the hot plate to interrupt Ramsay while he's working.

Would you storm into the kitchen uninvited and demand to talk to the head chef at a restaurant in the middle of the dinner rush?

In all fairness Ramsay *did* apologize there. He knows what customer service is. Otherwise he wouldn't have like 12 top of the line restaurants internationally. -.-

It was that little "Well that doesn't do anything for me" comment that set him off.

Still, part 2 and 3 are better. The pumpkin guy and the hurt feelings, ehe.

I'm still not sure if this clip is real, but people tune in to see Ramsay go nuts and yell at people.

I do agree that he was over the top with all the cursing, but his reaction to certain over-used customer lines was funny, like when he said "are you that arrogant that you can't see what's going on behind me?".

People like to complain when a restaurant or store is obviously busy, but they don't seem to realize that there is a wait sometimes.

In this case, however, Ramsay's staff was pretty slow and still in training, so they weren't very efficient.

His hottest table booked months to months in advance is the Kitchen table. From what I've read some people have booked the table just to see him go off and are sometimes VERY dissapointed that he runs his kitchen so well and so...not swearingly.

I liked the one from the second season (I believe) where this woman with huge "assets" was bitching about the wait and Gordon told her to go back to her table, saying something along the lines of "Get those beasts out of here." She got so pissed she flipped a tray of food over and stormed back. I think Gordon had Jean-Phillipe throw her out.

I doubt the customer complaints are staged since American companies (like Fox) have paranoid legal departments that would have customers sign a waiver that allows them to be filmed and such. And knowing Ramsey's behavior, they probably also have a line or two about how he may go off on you, similar to how people that went to Ghallager shows were warned that the first few rows may get wet and sticky during his Sledge-O-Matic demos.

Still, I wouldn't mind how abusive he was towards me if I worked for him and he stuck up for me like that with customers even when I was clearly at fault like the guy in #3.

Frankly, I couldn't see going to Hell's Kitchen and expecting a great dinner. I'd be pleased if I got one, but depending on when it its run you show up, you well could have an abysmal meal. And you should go in knowing that it's a very real probability.

My favourite is in part 2.

"Shut the f*** up for thirty seconds."
"Did he tell us to shut the f*** up? That's so unpolite!"

My favorite was I believe in the first season where one of the chefs had to cut up a guys lettuce. It was...humilitating to watch I wonder what his table mates thought.

Nice! I hate it when an SC thinks the world revolves around them.
