Can't say I'm surprised - they're bunch of thieves. I've been a victim - luckily nothing of monetary value was stolen. Two wedding invites for my best friends (sent to me) were nicked because they weren't in plain white envelopes. Pretty envelopes apparently = some sort of cash gift within.

    That sucks, Iradney.

If you needed to send something really important, what would you do? Pay for FedEx?

If you have to ask, it's probably better posted at www.fratching.com

We use something called Speed Services, which is a courier, and the letters/parcels are registered and insured as well, so if anything goes wonky, they have to pay the customer back. So they're alot more vigilant there.

Unfortunately, this is not a new problem. The PO has been nicking things for YEARS. 5 or 6 years ago, when I was living by myself (well, I rented a Granny Flat from a friend) I had a subscription to a women's fitness magazine (Shape). I got the first two issues, and then never again. Contacted the mag's distributors, who confirmed that the mags had been sent to me. My landlord wouldn't have nicked em coz
      a) he's male
      b) HIGHLY religious (not annoyingly so, he practised what he preached, and he was VERY VERY anti-theft)

Letters that I sent my grandparents as a kid went missing because I included little bead bracelets that I had made. The list goes on. If people from overseas send parcels, you can kiss em goodbye.
      *sigh*

That's disgusting! What is the government / law enforcement agencies doing about it?
I don't have an attitude problem. You have a perception problem.

I hope that answer is a joke and not real.

A 68% reduction of theft was reported last year, however no numbers were given that I could easily (ie lazily) find, it would be interesting to see what % of deliveries still get stolen.

Thing is it's so hard to work out who is stealing, unless you get all employees to declare all possesions upon entering work, search them all when they exit and have trustworthy staff doing so then in conditions like that theft will be rampant.
A PSA, if I may, as well as another.
