I was reading the Darwin Awards and I came across this one.

I just kept picturing it in my mind. It's like something out of a cartoon.

The guy decides to harvest the steel elevator cable from a old building. The car is at the bottom, the counterweight is on the top. The counterweight is attached to the steel cable which is attached to the car, until he cut it. I guess he forgot about that really BUG hunk of steel at the top.
