  • Being annoying could become illegal

    http://www.aol.com.au/news/story/Lib...041/index.html

To make sure the Pope's visit to Sydney goes smoothly, the New South Wales government has introduced laws making it illegal to "cause annoyance".

There's going to be a legal challenge (by some annoying guys) in the high court on Friday.

To make sure the Pope's visit to Sydney goes smoothly, the New South Wales government has introduced laws making it illegal to "cause annoyance".

File a criminal complaint against every member of the government who voted in favor of the laws, claiming annoyance over overly intrusive and authoritarian laws.

Here's an article about the court appeal:

In short: Lawyers representing those opposed to the laws say the definition of "annoying" is too broad. The NSW government say they need these powers to "maintain safety" (apparently existing anti-riot laws are unenforceable or something?). The ruling will be handed down on Tuesday.

Well he bothers me! (well not really, my grandparents were Catholic and it helped them through some very tough times... praying to St Barbara got my granddad through slavery in a Nazi coal mine... so no the Pope doesn't bother me at all... but he does bother the NoToPope Coalition)

That might have worked, or it could be that the Pope at that time (Pius X11) was from Germany and wanted all of his own left alone to make room for everyone else. (Just kidding)
