Kid borrows Manga from library, Dad claims Son actually got Porn
ot but oooooh battle vixens.......... why is the good stuff was owned by my straight female friends and i wasnt alloud to read it at school out of fear the straight males friends would see it... oh and battle vixens is so much worst than absolut boyfriend
They had restricted access to adult stuff in my library so kids didn't try and sneak it. There's a good chance this dad will lose or have the case tossed out since the library has a common sense approach in parents monitoring and restricting their children's access to adult material.

And the dad's going to sue the library for recommending parents take responsibility for what their children are allowed to read!
Are you actually suggestion that parents take an active roll in their children's lives and dictate what they should read and what they shouldn't read?
HOW DARE YOU!!!
We all know that the responsibility for raising children is in our schools, the government, and it is up to the welfare system to pay for their needs. We need to keep the parents away from any blame in how their children are raised and what they turn out like. That way, our court system can reward them with a huge settlement when something goes wrong years down the road, like he doens't get on the footbal team, he doesn't get into his first choice college, fails math, or even doesn't get a job on his first interview.

Seriously, this is F-ed up. The library is in a lose-lose situation. If they allowed the child to borrow the books, then they're guilty of giving children access to books that he shouldn't read (and what if he was doing research on testicular or breast cancer or even our reproductive system for a school paper? Some of that is rated R to X)) and if they didn't allow him to borrow the books they would have been violating "freedom of press" and would have been accused of censorship.

"Common sense" - what is that? I haven't seen much of that recently.
A 3 point Merit, or a feat that must be taken at character creation. The direct system effect is that the Story Teller/Game Master/Dungeon Master must tell you if your about to do something stupid. If you do not have this feat or merit well don't say I didn't warn you.
I am guessing the librarian didn't look at the cover when she scanned the book.
I am guessing the kid shoved the book in his backpack or something so his parents didn't see it.
Look, boys of that age are interested in boobies...and it's no one's fault if sometimes they manage to see them.
(out of curiosity I picked up a volume of Battle Club, and I saw breasts, and scantily clad young women...but NO rape or bondage at all. Bondage rape isn't Tokyopop's thing usually...that's up Dark Horse's alley).
I would be a little startled to see my son reading something like that but I would take the opportunity to discuss the contents with him and explain that while stories like that may be fun, that's not how one treats women in the real world...hiring a lawyer will get you NOWHERE.
