Yeah, Metallica's Whiskey In The Jar is a pick of mine, too.

How about Fields of Athenry by the Dropkick Murphys?

And I think my number one favorite is probably Nightwish's Phantom of the Opera
      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TJ3kN...eature=related

EDIT: Oh man, I don't know how I could forget The Man In Black covering Nine Inch Nails.

Jeff Buckley singing Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah". One of the most haunting songs I've ever heard.

I don't have access to youtube at work so i cant link it. But if you type in "jeff buckley hallelujah" it will come right up.

Same as TPG, although I tend to like Rufus Wainwright's version better.

Come to think of it, his version of Across The Universe is pretty fab, too.

David Bowie's cover of Frank Sinatra's (or was it Nat King Cole's?) "Nature Boy" on Moulin Rouge was also lovely and haunting.

How about just the entire Moulin Rouge soundtrack? And, songs NOT on there (Lady Marmalade mixed w/ SMells Like Teen Spirit)

I don't personally care for Rufus' version, Buckley's is the one that really moves me. It's so stark and lonely sounding. But i do agree with you on Rufus' version of Across The Universe. He nailed that one.
