  • Still Shameless After All These Years

    http://www.les-bonnes-fees.com/Snow_falls_1.html

Les Bonnes Fees is a really cool webzine that publishes fiction and non-fiction related to folk and fairy tales. In their relatively young life, they’ve published some amazing stuff.

So it’s quite surprising that in the September 2008 issue, they are publishing me.

My short story “Snow As It Falls” is a loose retelling of the Japanese folktale “The Crane Wife”, a story that many authors have found very compelling. I’m rather proud of this one; usually when I really like my own writing that means it’s crap, but it seems I got lucky this time.

If you read it, let me know what you think!

Very nicely told story. My only issue is with the site. They broke it into 10 separate (and slow loading) pages. Was very frustrating after the first page or so, when I was waiting for the next page to load.

The story, though, was very well done. Thank you for sharing.

I know who I'm submitting to next. (I enjoy rewriting the old folk stories and fairy tales)

They're a nice bunch and have published some really good pieces. I recommend working with them!

Thank you kindly. They did the scene breaks badly in a couple places, so I hope it all made sense!

It did, which is probably a bonus for your particular type of story. Fairy tales tend to flow easily, no matter where you break them.
