I once packed a box about three feet cubed with books from our "donate" stash, and then slid the actual gift wrapped in tissue paper down the side. It was a cool gift, a build-your-own video game kit, but it was so small I didn't feel that the original package was impressive enough. She knew I was excited about that one, and it was so huge and heavy she was shocked to get a li'l bundle of tissue paper. She thought it was hilarious. Of course, her next gift was a soldering iron, so she could build the kit.
