  • Sad story of dog.

    http://www.kgw.com/news-local/storie...1474180b7.html

Basically, owners say dog is sick. Rather then even attempt to get it to sleep, they beat it in the head and bury it alive. Up to its head. Then leave to go eat.

    Cripes.

Okay, I can somewhat sympathise with "I can't afford to have it put down properly and I don't know it's free some places, so I'm gonna DIY it". But for FREAK'S SAKE if you're gonna DIY the euthenasia, make sure the damned thing is DEAD, will you?

I don't buy it for a second though anyway. Who buries a "dead" dog up to it's neck, leaving the head above ground, and places a pillow under it??? No, they knew that dog weren't dead.

Not that I'd ever euthanize an animal (true story, actually. I had a Manx cat for 15 years, she died laying in my dad's lap. She lifted her head, looked up and him, meowed for the last time, then put her head back down and stopped breathing), but couldn't you F#&$ING CALL the humane society/animal shelter/veterinarian and see how much it would cost, or if there were places that could do it for free, instead of frikkin DIYing it, and making the dog suffer more...

I hope they get charged to the fullest extent... they weren't "distraught", they knew what they were doing...

And the fact that they went to dinner after sickens me more.

I kind of envy you for that... my mom has once had to put a dog down... she made the decision to put her down when she could no longer even lift her head to eat on her own we both made the decision that it was time... hardest decision ever.

I have had to euthanise a beloved pet. I have also had to bury an accidentally-killed beloved pet.

In neither case was dinner much on my mind for several hours afterwards. I'm not entirely sure I could eat for HOURS after actually killing one. Well okay, I'm not sure I could actually kill a pet myself. But I sure as heck wouldn't be able to stomach *eating* after it.

A hammer? You do NOT use a hammer to euthenise an animal.

For fucks sake I'm sure you can find someone to do the deed in a more humane manner.

So they could afford to go out to eat, but not to put the dog down. There's some nice priorities....

Also, I like how on the video she's talking about how she was asked why she didn't call the animal rescue group and she says that she did everything humanly possible to find another option...uh huh.

These people are nasty. They make my stomach turn. I've had to put a kitty to sleep because she was in pain and suffering. I know it's not easy, and not always free, but dammit, that dog was ALIVE.

I hope a judge gets this case and makes them wear "I'm a dog beating human, please kick me" signs.

Pfeh! get them out of my sight.

At the risk of being yelled at, those people should be beaten with hammers. Maybe I'll be 'kind,' and not their heads....but knees are fun to hit.
OH MY GOD, THAT IS A GOOD IDEA!! U RAWK!! LET US RAISE OUR HAMMERS IN THE NAME OF THE POOR MUTT AND CONVERGE ON SAID INCARCERATION FACILITY WHERE THESE TWO ARE!!

I had to have a cat put to sleep 3 weeks ago. I went to the human society and it cost $50.
That F--ing couple could have passed on dinner and paid for the poor dog.

If I lived near them, I would break a major law for the time in my life.
Not suggesting anyone do anything to them but just omg.

If you're going to do a DIY euthanasia, there are ways to do it, and ways not to do it. Way back when, you would take the dog out back, and put a bullet through their brain. That was what happened. It worked, and the poor critter barely, if even, got to feel the bullet enter their head before they couldn't feel anything anymore. Beating something in such a manner as to knock it out and leave long term brain damage, then burying it alive and.....

Alright, I'm going to stop right here because if I keep going I'm going to break Broomjockey's ruling, and get this thread closed.

I suppose what I should be saying is that I was crying by the end of this. I've watched friends go through pretty gnarly injuries, I've taken over for co-workers when the worst of the worst clients started in on them. I've got a far thicker emotional armor than most of the people I'm regularly in contact with, but the hole in that armor is a domesticated animal. I can't help it, this stuff gets to me, which makes me more aggressive than even the usual me, which my friends will tell you is saying something. These guys deserve whatever is coming to them, and then some.

I twice had to DIY euthanise a bird; once a budgie at the pet store, after the poor thing was suffering with scaley face and couldn't breathe; and the second one a blackbird my cat brought in. Both times, I drowned them in the sink. Not out of cruelty, but cuz I couldn't bear to watch either bird suffer and then die in pain.

These people tho are the end. They could have just as easily driven out and dropped the dog off at an animal shelter. Yes, it would have been transparently obvious that they didn't want to pay for vet treatment or euthanasia but the dog at least would have been better off than being tortured and left to die in pain.
People who don't like cats were probably mice in an earlier life.

Does anyone else think that there could be serious psychological issues with these two people? The very least they could have done was to finish the dog off instead of burying it with it's head above the ground. The WTF factor on that one is through the roof . . .
