  • Foreign accent syndrome

This was on the news tonight. I guess after having a major brain injury or stroke I really wouldn't mind having just this side effect.

Link to wikipedia explaining it some more.

Whoa, stop right there. Speaking in a different accent is now considered a disorder?

lordlunder - that's only after you've had a stroke or some other brain injury. Plus, there's only been like 50 recorded cases.

That'd be like my friend Babette (who has a really thick Southern accent - that's for the Americans out there who understand the American accents). So here's this chick with thick southern accent who has a brain injury and then when she wakes up starts speaking with a Chinese accent or something completely different. That's what that means.

Though I have been told I'm weird for affecting an English accent when I'm at the Renn Faire all dressed up.
