My cat used to do the same thing; We bought a sleeping mat for my sister's camping trip that came in a narrow box that was open at both ends, and Buddy kept trying to crawl through it. He's kind of fat, though, so he kept getting stuck. It was really cute, but then he broke the box and we had to throw it away.

I'll see if I can find pictures when I get home.
