And it started off so well...

Oh well. I suppose, frankly, a mis-stashed item is the least of the employee's problems after Black Friday. Even if the SC doesn't go back for it, someone is going to find and buy it.

if you're really hot for an item, scope out the store just before closing the night before, find the exact item's location, and remember it or stash it in a secret location.

That won't even work if there are people working overnight Thursday night stocking the shelves, straightening the shelves and building all the displays. The hidden item will just be returned to its proper place on the floor.

And I would wager every big-box store is going to have some kind of overnight crew doing just those things.

And if you're a store employee doing that, you don't have a job on Saturday. At least with my company.

This wouldn't piss me off; it would just be monumentally stupid.
