There are, floating around in the internet here and there, some still photographs taken by amateurs with cellphones of the savages who killed that poor man. The authorities need to use all of the power at their disposal to detain, arrest, prosecute and then EXECUTE these pieces of human s^it.

Let the witch hunt drop, guys.

    I'm sorry, but, respectfully, NO.

As far as I'm concerned, the "witch hunt" should continue.
The animals should be marched into the sea at rifle-point.

I somehow my friend who works at a wal mart telling me they were going to be selling blue ray players for $99.
I also recall saying that someone was going to be trampled to death again just like a few years back when they had the $99 DVD players. And just like the DVD players the blueray players won't work.
It all happend and I'm kind of disturbed that it did. retail employees need to be allowed to carry shotguns loaded with rock salt or atleast thoes rubber pellet rounds and wear riot gear. I meant that's basicly what they are dealing with.
After hearing so many stories like this I just buy a case of beer the day before thanksgiving and stay at home watching discovery channel and drinking all day on black friday.

Haven't been in for a bit...

But this crap needs to stop. The only way it stops is by finding and prosecuting. Oh, wait, am I putting faith in the government to actually do its job? Oh, I'm sorry, my mistake.

I agree, Retail workers should have the right to carry some sort of self defense mechanism... in general. There's too many crazies that they have to deal with.

So has Wal-mart blamed the poor victim yet?

Wal-Mart: He was told to stay away from the doors if there was a possibility of danger.

It's a sad Thanksgiving time for his family. I really hate to see what they are going through.

Interesting idea Raps. Would that be for anyone who works in retail and dies, or would the death have to be a direct result of their retail career to admit them into the honorarium?
Just in retail or public servants? Technically I'm not in retail anymore but I work in the environment a lot (and I drive a lot, too, which is very risky in south Florida especially this time of year).

"Tragedy", to me, means something in which nobody is at fault, like an earthquake.
Tragedy. From the Greek tragedos - "goat song". Because the winner of the City Dionysia (the Greek festival to Dionysus that had a 3-day "best play" contest) would win a goat.

I have a problem with the use of the word 'tragedy' for things like this. In a Greek tragedy, the 'tragic hero' (i.e. Oedipus) is brought down by a 'tragic flaw', usually hubris (excessive pride). Oedipus had hubris, he believed he could outwit his fate, and therefore the gods.

              / dramatic literature lesson

I know people are still going to use 'tragedy', but to me, that's not what this is. This is a crime. A man was killed, through no fault of his own, by a horde of people. Who is at fault? The police, for not responding in a timely manner. The store, for not providing a safe work environment. And the customers, for acting like a mindless herd.

Thank you, AdminAssistant. That's what I was desperately trying (and failing) to convey back there.

Don't blame us. We do all our shopping online. And what happened here is a perfect example of why we choose not to get involved in those lynch mobs, eh, I mean Black Friday shoppers.

Their was fault on all the parties in some way shape of form. Sure WalMart could have managed lines better, Police could have manage lies batter, etc. The shoppers who had no problem breaking down the doors to get in early are also responsible. This could have happened in the aisles if a employee got between two customers trying to get to the items they could have been hurt or killed also.

                      • Guess what? Another lawsuit is in progress.
By a father and son who claim to have 'back and neck injuries' as a result of being pushed around by the crowd.

                        • Since this is about retail related deaths/shootings, I found out today at work that a manager of a Kmart store in Philly was shot when trying to protect a female co-worker from her ex-boyfriend. The shooter followed her through the store and into receiving. It's just sad...

                          Story here.

Also, I can't believe other customers are suing Wally World about the Nassau Wal-mart incident. Have they no shame? The customers are at fault here, mostly--those customers knew what they were getting into. They want 2 million dollars? Disgusting!

They probably shoved the guy in the first place!!

                              • "The guy"? I was right with you till I went and read the article. They're not claiming a little 'push' in a typical black friday sale rush. They're claiming that particular mad rush, which Walmart failed to prevent, caused injury.

I'm not sure if I buy it or not, but I buy it a lot more than "being pushed around by the crowd".
