Wow. That was an amazing thing for the family that sold the company to do. And it sounds like their employees were loyal to them for a long time, even before the sale.

Granted, I'm pretty sure if the hotel was actually making money the owners would be like that... only two problems are, one, as I mentioned, the hotel isn't making money, and second with our turnover rate there isn't anyone who's been there for years to be rewarded (I'm the third most senior person there outside of housekeeping and I've been there 4 months if you include housekeeping I'm the 5th most senior person there).

I really hope this is a wake up call for larger corporations out there. No, I'm not expecting a check in the $xx,xxx range as a bonus, but maybe they'll wisen up and realize the bonus do help keep employees.

I wonder how they taxed them? If it's a bonus, then uncle Sam will take his 40%-60% share quickly (but still, what's left is a very nice chunk of change).

Huh.... and to think I thought only certain oil companies (like on in my town that bribes employees with cash to make up for the high cancer rates in everyone not working for them) gave $10-50K bonuses.
