Well, the movie was decent, I won't argue that. I enjoyed it... but it wasn't that good.
It was overhyped, oversold, overstated and simply overdone.
This doesn't surprise me at all.

It was a superhero summer blockbuster movie. They very rarely get many, if any at all, award nominations unless it's for special effects. This one is an exception because Heath Ledger did an incredible job in that role, but also because it was his last major film role completed.

Honestly? While I think he did an amazing job, I doubt the movie would have gotten any nods at all had Heath Ledger still been alive. Think X-Mens, Spidermans, Incredible Hulk, Batman Begins, ect. Would you REALLY expect award nominations for those movies?

(I do, however, believe that Heath Ledger deserves the award. I just don't think he would have even been nominated -- or really even considered -- were he still alive.)
I am Wolverine.............and Wolverine does not do high kicks.

He was a hero to me....and heroes are not supposed to die.

I think it probably transcended the comic genre more than the others really. More of a thriller at times. I had friends who watched it who hated comic book films, but they even loved it. I'm one of the few who seems to have watched it over and over again without losing any love for it. Also, I think Ledger would have got it. He should have been more appreciated for Brokeback, so his time for a big award was on the way anyway, in my opinion.
