Wow. I was okay. I wasn't crying. And then she looks over and they say "Who's that?" and she just starts saying "Daddy" over and over and then she says I missed you....

I couldn't help it. That's just too sweet. (The fact that I live very close to a fort and have many friends who are overseas and friends whose spouses / parents / siblings / ect. are overseas fighting does not help in the "keeping the tears in" try).

That's awesome. I'm really glad whoever made that happen could make it happen.

This is what Christmas is all about

This little girl is the most adorable ever. In this difficult time in this country and the world dealing with war, terrorism, a bad economy, and many other negative things, a little girl wishing for her daddy to come home safely from the war in Afghanistan and having that wish come true is what the Christmas season is all about.

This thread has nothing to do with whether I support the war or not. It's all about how important it is for all our soldiers to come home safely to the love of their families to celebrate the holidays with them. Please do not turn it into a debate over whether the war is just or what we should do overseas.

Yeah, okay. I'm crying like a baby. Absolutely no way I can pretend otherwise.

Okay, the last few "You'll cry I swears" threads I didn't get emotional over. But this one? Oh my god, right when the kid starts saying "Daddy, I missed you Daddy!" I turned into a baby and cried buckets.

                        Oh.. shut up!

I'm very very happy for that little girl...

                            ...

                            ...

But three of my four little ones have been asking for the same thing since their dad left in April. The only reason the fourth hasn't... is because he can't talk yet.

There will be no happy reunion here, this year. There -might- be a phone call at some point during the holidays... if we're -very- lucky.

He will miss all of their birthdays. He will miss our winter holidays. He missed Thanksgiving. He missed Summer Solstice and the Autumn Equinox... He will miss Winter Solstice, Spring Equinox and the next Summer Solstice before we see him again.

I cried watching this clip. Not because it was a touching story... but because I am jealous of that little girl and her family. They will have their father/husband/son home... and we will not.

Many people see the wives and husbands of our deployed soldiers all around... but they only see the front we put on for others. I occasionally get compliments for my husband's service... but I never show how heart-wrenching these compliments can sometimes be.

I cry myself to sleep at night, clutching my husband's empty pillow to my stomach. I can't eat well and I'm losing weight... but I make sure that everything gets done. The children are cared for. The house is cleaned. The bills are paid. I keep worries as far from my husband as I can because I know that he has enough to worry about over there. I somehow manage to hold a family together even though my heart is on the other side of the globe...

And I stew in my jealousy of those families that I see all around me. Happy or fighting... at least they're together.

Happy Holidays, CS.com... May we all find a bit of joy to celebrate at this time of year. I know I will be looking for mine.
