I just wish they had found his son's body.

    **Warning: Grossness/traumatic tidbits ahead**

Didn't they find, errr...the head? I remember reading about that story a long time ago, said they found the head floating in a bay or something...

Poor guy. Glad to hear that he will (hopefully) finally have some justice.

Yes they did. Couldn't imagine going through a loss like that, at the hands of someone else. Seems like it still affects him no different than it did 27 years ago.

Mmmmm. .... Call me cynical, but if there's no new evidence at all, it seems a little "let's get rid of this case" to blame it on the dead guy who was number one suspect all along. I mean yeah, chances are he did it, but if there's no new evidence, on what basis are they saying now that he did it, that couldn't have been used then?

Sideline - is there a statute of limitations on murder?

No, not on murder. It's amazing that the Walsh case has finally been closed. I remember when it happened, and how John Walsh, just before appearing on TV to plead for his son's life, heard that his son might well have been found, but dead. Can you imagine what that must have been like for him?

Not personally, but my heart goes out to every single family that really does. Children are precious and I cannot think of a single thing more horrible than to have a child go missing or be tortured/killed/defiled by some scumbag.

Even with old evidense, they can run new tests on it. DNA testing was in the stoneage back in the 80s and now you can find out damned near anything from blood. Supposedly, that's what they did and they were able to use the evidense to pin it on that guy.

Mostly, this gives the family closure (as they kept running the report on CNN yesterday). That's what they really needed at this point.
