Bit of history on that - back in the '50s, Sears (don't know if it was corporate, or one store acting on their own) had a "call Santa" promotion, but they got the wrong phone number - the "red phone" at Continental Air Defense command (predecessor to Norad).

Of course, if they really saw something coming in low and fast, with minimal radar cross-section, coming in over the pole, they'd go for a "beyond visual range" intercept. Game warden wouldn't like that - 9 reindeer (including Rudolf) is over the bag limit, hunting from an aircraft is illegal, and the AIM-120 isn't considered a "sporting" weapon.
