  • Octuplets!

    http://www.cnn.com/2009/HEALTH/01/26...nia.octuplets/

I've always been fascinated in multiple births and I know I'll be watching the news to see how these babies do. Best of luck for their survival and to their parents!

Let's hope they all make it and are relatively healthy - it's almost a blessing that nobody knew about the 8th "surprise," there might have been more stress and pressure otherwise. Making it to 30ish weeks is amazing.

Funny, the Dilley sextuplets were only "supposed" to be quints. They seem to be the most normal of the high-profile higher-order multiples. Hope that trend continues.

thats because there parents will only let them photographed and interview about once a year, they refused to do public appearances.

LOL! You see "eight babies" you can't help but think of Apu Nahassapemapetalan, and then you click the link and see ... Dr Gupta!

Not a fan of the Gosslins either, I take it? Like I said in my first post, I'm fascinated by multiples - but how those kids' lives have been affected disgusts me. I think the Dilleys, and now the McCaugheys that they are older have gotten the right balance.

All eight newborns are still doing well, no names have been released. Poor mom hasn't been able to hold any of them or I think even see them in person yet, she's still too weak from the C-section.

I won't even express my opinion on this.

Wow. I mean, I got used to the triplets pretty quick, but yeah...2 1/2 times more babies? Holy.

Actually, the article says her marital/SO status is unknown.

Honestly, I commend these people for being more private and not immediately jumping the media bandwagon towards talk shows, etc.

If they continue to try and stay out of the media I'll be even more impressed.
Really, their lives and how they support and raise their kids is no one's business but theirs.

But, I suppose that we live in a day and age where people who don't want media attention are considered "weirdos".

                      Too bad really.

                        *jawdrop, head explodes*

All I know is that that many kids would be too much for me.

Mercifully, this lady is not me.
Hopefully the babies do well and everything goes well for that family.

                          From what I read today:

                          - She wants $2 million for an interview.
                          - Is single.
                          - Her parents had to file for bankruptcy.
                          - She worked at the fertility clinic where she was impregnated.

Still trying to wrap my head around already having 6 kids and then having 8 more.
If you don't like my attitude, talk to the manager!!! Oh, wait, that would be me!!

Yes, I'm the manager. I'm also known as "the brick wall".

I had heard that she wants/hopes to make as much moolah as she can off this.

Yeah, "special" family indeed...Mom's jaw dropped when she saw on the news that they live in a tiny apartment.

That sounds just a tad suspicious to me...'sampling' going on, perhaps? I know that fertility treatments can increase the likelihood of multiples...but not normally that much. Yeesh.

This just gets stranger and stranger. According to local news, most if not all of the first six kids were from in vitro. Her set of twins was definitely was. And then there's this:

                              http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/lif...cle5627531.ece

Apparently it's unusual (and unethical) that she was given eight or more embryos at once. Two or three is the usual number because it's much safer in the event that all of them successfully implant. Why did she get so many? Could she have been planning this, and if so, what doctor would be crazy enough to agree?
