  • Proof (as is we needed any) that people don't read to understand

One of my daily stops on the super-highway has had an ongoing issue with people who follow a google link to one of their articles and accuse them of stealing from them, when all they did was write an article about the situation.

    http://techdirt.com/articles/20090128/1928243562.shtml

It's also proof that no good deed goes unpunished.

I agree - whenever I let someone in the office "borrow" something either I don't get it back or I have to hunt them down to get it.

Screw that - no one borrows anything.

As for the OP - people are just stupid.

After the second email, I'm not so sure I'd have stayed as polite. I'm sure I would have said something similar to "Look you fucking moron, it's not our problem. Call Amazon and get a clue..."

Holy wow. People are stupid. People are monumentally stupid.

But then, let's face it, you're dealing with people who didn't read the fine print on a "FREE ONE MONTH TRIAL" offer anyway. IME, all free one month trials have a rollover clause. It's expected. You LOOK for it.

            Heck. I do, anyway.

My brain broke over the e-mails from the woman.

I can't believe that woman...why are people so stupid?

C'mon...FREE two day shipping? You know there's a catch. Anyhow, I had Amazon Prime for a year...I think it did save me money in the end and I got my stuff faster...but that was back in the days of regular employment and more cash to burn than bills to pay.

My whole family used it; they just signed into my account and paid with their own credit card and got free shipping, so we all benefited from it.

It was very clear from the moment I signed up for it that if I did not cancel after the first free month, then my credit card would be charged 79 dollars. I think I even got an e-mail about it, but I just checked and my e-mail logs don't go back that far.

People need to learn to read the fine print or at least read what's on the screen. It was completely clear to me, but then again, I know how things work and I always remember to look for the "catch" or the true cost of "free" things.

That's the fear I had once when someone contacted my company demanding to be refunded money for a service. I wrote back to say "you've got the wrong company, we don't even use that billing service".... I was extremely worried that I'd run into someone like that lady.

But then I've had a few people bite my head off over e-mail, threaten to "come down" and take care of it personally (please do! We don't even live in the same country!)... anymore I do what that place does -- ignore them unless it seems important to do otherwise.

Man, if I qualified for Amazon Prime, you bet your butt I'd be ordering so much stuff from them, my credit card would spin. Unfortunately, it's US only *pout*

Especially if it's a "yearly fee" type of service...
