  • I might be out of a job at the end of the year.

    Yeah.

Rite Aid. (Ticker symbol: RAD; about 100,000 employees; 1-year stock-price decline: 92%). This drugstore chain tried to boost its performance by acquiring competitors Brooks and Eckerd in 2007. But there have been some nasty side effects, like a huge debt load that makes it the most leveraged drugstore chain in the U.S., according to Zacks Equity Research. That big retail investment came just as megadiscounter Wal-Mart was starting to sell prescription drugs, and consumers were starting to cut bank on spending. Management has twice lowered its outlook for 2009. Prognosis: Mounting losses, with no turnaround in sight.

That would suck. My parents have been getting their prescriptions filled there since the store was Genovese. The pharmacists at my RA are some of the nicest people around. Going to S&S, Target or if this ever gets off the ground...ugh, Walmart; it just wouldn't be the same.

That would really suck for us here, as they are the only pharmacy within a 30 minute drive. Good luck on keeping your job, hopefully things will change for the better!

Rite Aid = Thats sad...I like this place.

Claire's Stores = Ruined my ears three times and now I can never have pierced ears.No love lost here.

Chrysler = *looks at her car* Um...No...please?

Dollar Thrifty Automotive Group = *shrugs?*

          Realogy Corp= *shrugs again?*

Station Casinos= Oooooh not looking forward to this.

Loehmann's Capital Corp = Don't know what to feel about this. Never seen one of their stores only a few catalougs and after 4 years I would think to have seen more then a couple.

Sbarro = NOOOOOOOO No taking this pizza place. They rock here.

Six Flags = Honestly never been there. Always thought the ticket prices were too much since I don't do rollercoasters well. On them fine but just getting off....erk.

Blockbuster = I like Netflix, nuff said.

Krispy Kreme = Never really liked them. Always thought they were too oily and too...ick.

It seems like a mix of well known companies and some much smaller specialty brands. The smaller lesser know ones seem like they would go first.

We have a Loehmann's department store just around the corner from where I work. The store really isn't all that spectacular, especially with Kohl's, two Targets, Belk's, and a Wal-mart all within a couple of miles of it.

Six Flags doesn't surprise me. I went there (Maryland one) last summer and I'd guess about 1/3 of the rides were closed down. The place just looked old.
That place is just plain nasty. They had a shooting there last summer (maybe the summer before). So I can just add that to the list of reasons I won't go!

I wonder how many small towns will be hurt by this?

I did search. I have a severe head cold and must have missed it.
                      Thanks for your advice.
