  • The "joke" rears its head

I didn't see if anyone else posted this. If they did, I apologize now.

    For all my retail friends.

Art imitates life? Or life imitates art?

After a couple of douches repeated the joke then said "you're not laughing", I started replying to it with "The best things in life are free, but this ain't one of them".

They usually give me a death glare that says "how dare you be wittier than me".

It's the famous customer wit. Or half of it anyway.

Hey, author of the comic here.

I'm glad you guys like that strip so much! I'll be bringing back the store motif soon, cuz god knows I've got enough material. I've worked at a grocery store for 4 years now, and this crap doesn't ever go away.

Also, if you look at the bottom of the comments: http://www.out-at-home.com/2009/01/26/this-fing-joke/ you'll see that some schmuck decided to berate everyone for hating THE JOKE. It was so jarring I couldn't believe it.

(Oh, and if you wanna read the rest of my comic and bookmark it and laugh at it despite its general irrelevance to this forum, then that would be awesome.)

I just saw the comments from those two idiots. Screw 'em. If the think it's so great, they can work in retail and laugh at everyone who says it.

          Welcome, Prof. Spaceman!

That was great and heard it so many times when I worked in retail.

This one is me in high school:

                  Nice stuff, prof!

Have done one where a customer thinks its cute to screw with the cashier/supervisor/manager by calling out random numbers while the cashier/supervisor/manager counting down a register? I've shot people eye-daggers over doing that to me.
