Gah. F***ing @$$holes. Seriously. It's bad enough that they write shit to destroy your computer, but to trick people in to paying them for the priviledge? I can't say what I'd like to do to them, because nothing seems quite inventive enough.

The one I got hit by recently was MS Antivirus 2009. Thankfully I knew enough to call shenanigens on the pop-ups and ads, but the thing was a bitch to remove. This sort of thing is just shady in all kinds of ways. Thanks for the heads up on this one.
Personally, I find cleavage very helpful. In a crime-fighting sense.

I hated that one - it ran free in my work's intranet, even though we told people NOT to click on the links - they did - and I had to clean up the mess.

My sentiments exact ...and the viruses these days are much more virulent than they used to be. The ones I tend to get the most calls about at work are about the Antivirus 360, MS Antivirus 2009, MS Antivirus 2008 and a couple that were MS Antivirus 2010 infections. One of my customers had a virus so bad that he couldn't boot in normal and safe mode and I had to give him the bad news to reload Windows.

Makes you wonder if these idiots are capable of creating malicious programs to hurt computers then what could they do for the good of everybody if they were so inclined?
All that wasted talent on creating viruses, trojans & what-not.

Probably nothing. Remember, it's harder to create than it is to destroy. Most of them are mildly talented at best, and just think up a "clever" plan like this once in a blue moon, usually building off someone else's legitimate work.
