  • WOman fined $50 for walking with her service dog

    http://www.justnews.com/news/18813042/detail.html

We saw this on the news last night and I have to stop my wife from taking her service dogs to this area to walk them.

My wife wouldn't be as quiet as this lady is - she would cause the world's largest stink.

We sometimes get flack for the dogs but 99% of the time people acknowledge that it's OK when my wife explains to them that it is a service dog.

The ADA can be quite active at times like this, too.

Her ticket was voided, ok, but what about the tickets he 'writes all the time' for the other service animals?
Hope they follow up a bit.

Local 10 contacted Hollywood Police and they agreed with Lanier....The ticket that Lanier was issued was voided and additional training has been scheduled for officers.
I hope so, especially for that specific officer! He really should have known better. I'm no cop and I know that service animals are allowed everywhere!

I think the only place service animals aren't allowed is directly in food preparation areas, which given I've seen many service dogs cleaner than the food prep people I don't understand it.

But that cop seriously needs to get a clue.
