  • Manager fired *language warning*

Not my manager! But my mom showed me an article today on the NY paper and a manager got fired because he told his employee (referring to his Ash Wednesday ashes on his forehead), to "Wipe that fucking shit off your face". I'm glad he got fired.

    Yikes.

My last store manager got fired because he couldn't keep his pants up. Funny thing is that is the same thing he got fired for from his last job. You'd think he'd learn.

I've been in this store for about 2 years, and we've been through 4 store managers so far.

Oh dear. I wouldn't be surprised at the firing.

I can beat the four store managers. Since I've been working at Random Craft Store, I've gone through six store managers and eight assistant store managers. o.o
Eh, one day I'll have something useful here. Until then, have a cookie or two.

I'm wondering.... did he even know what it was? I ask only since in my entire life (shy of being at a Catholic university of course), I've only seen people with ashes once and it threw me off as I didn't know what it was.

Granted it's sometimes hard to know what it is - I've seen some where they obviously tried to make the sign of a cross, and then others where it was just a smudge.
But would it have killed the manager to say "I think you got something on your forehead" instead? At least then the manager is just ignorant and not a jackass. Glad he got fired.

I saw that on the local news...it was a luxery hotel in NYC, and apparently it was such a heinous offense, that a senior manager from LONDON (i guess where they are based) flew to NYC to personally fire him. While I can't believe someone woudl actually say or do something so offensive, kudos to the hotel's upper management for taking care of the issue promptly, and correctly (in my opinion)

Yeah but it sounds as if the manager knew exactly what it was or else I'm guessing he would have just said "did you know you have a smudge on your forehead?"

The ferocity of his reaction tells me he knew exactly what it was.

New York City has a huge Catholic population (well, they've got a huge population of everything). You can't tell me this guy didn't know what the smudge on the forehead was about.

Also, the hotel was owned by a Catholic corporation.

That or it was a bad employee, and he was having a bad day. We have exactly half of one side of a story here. Just that the manager was fired. Can everyone stop jumping to conclusions that would be better left for Fratching? We don't even have a link to a story, like we should, otherwise this would have already been moved to Check It Out.

I apologize for not providing a link to the article. My mom just told me about it and I didn't know what newspaper it was from. Thanks to the person who did provide a link though!
