  • If You've Been Getting Those Car Warranty Robocalls...

You'll be happy to know that the US government is about to sue the life out of the bastards:

Can't wait to tell my fiance. He gets those calls everyday, and he doesn't even have a car.

Those asshats have been calling my work number (sometimes twice a day) and clogging up my voice mail.

WooHoo!! It's about time someone brought them down.
I question my sanity every day. Sometimes it answers.

4,000 Complaints to the BBB, and the FTC don't do anything until they themselves receive them on their own cell phones. Interesting.

These guys almost had me. I confused them with the warranty I had on my car. I almost signed a contract when my I went into a no coverage zone and my cell lost reception. I should buy a new phone to thank my cell provider
I have a...thing. Wanna see it?

After reading this thread, not even 5 minutes later, I got a call from something called "Auto Warranty". Yeah, they were saying my warranty was running out. It was a computerized voice.

              1. I have no warranty on my old Honda (it ran out and I never got it replaced)

              and

              2. We bought an extended warranty for our Mazda (7 years to go with the 7 year payment plan).

Needless to say, I hung up the phone.

Heh, we've been getting those lately on our apartment phone*. Which is odd, seeing as how neither of us uses that phone as our primary number. We both use our cell phones. Hell, we don't even have the landline number memorized; on the rare occasions we need to give it to someone, we both have to pull out our cells and look it up. Probably the only reason we have a landline is because it was cheaper to do the phone/internet/cable package deal.

*At least, I'm pretty sure that's what they are...they're always on the answering machine (since we're not home during the day) and since it's a computer voice the beginning gets cut off as it talks to our "we're not home" message.

I knew those calls had to be scammy and I'm glad something is gonna be done about it. The funny thing is that I used to get those calls at my old job at the dealershit!

I've been getting these on my cell phone for a few months now. I dont own a car.

It was funny. At a family gathering at easter we were talking about those calls when my cell phone rang and it was a warranty call. I put it on speaker phone and we had a good laugh.

Glad their finally doing something about them.

I just got a call from one of them today! I was somewhat disappointed that their own computer cut it off mid call (like right after a few words).... I was going to ask how they thought a 12 year old car had a warranty.

Good but I'm sure others will follow - I'm getting tons of calls for "mortgage insurance" now on my cell phone (two hits, 1) it's on the DNC list and 2) it's a cell phone, illegal to make unsolicited calls on it).

My mom's been getting a lot of dead-air calls on her house phone...she doesn't have realtime caller ID but they are showing up on the call list as what seem to be telemarketing firms.
