Are they just THAT STUPID? And what kind of parent ALLOWS this to happen (note: the article states that some parents gave permission.
If I was one of these parents and found out before - I would have raised hell. If I found out after - I would have raised double hell, and if it was my own child - let's just say hell on Earth.
3 officers were dismissed and two others resigned. I think anyone who had prior knowledge and didn't report it or do anything about it should also be let go. Child endangerment charges should be flying all around - including with the parents who gave permission for this to happen.
It seems that their excuse is that it is done to correctional officers as part of their training. Um, that's part of their training and they are all ADULTS. They know what they are getting into and this needs to be part of their training but doing it to a child as part of a demonstration?
