Woman brake tests an ambulance on an emergency shout while it's transporting a dying patient into hospital.

Sadly just one more, selfish, idiotic EW's who think the laws do not apply to them.

She's even smiling in the court photo. I mean ... how ... wow. Some people.

If she's ever being emergency transported to hospital I hope there's a delay. Not exactly like this, that wouldn't be nice to the paramedics, but some sort of delay, something to make her realise how that would feel.

It said she was with a male passenger, and since I do not think the both of them were profoundly mentally ill, I'm going to guess drugs.

            What does this mean?

"Annika Avery, 20, of Leicester, was given a five-month prison sentence, suspended for two years. She had already admitted dangerous driving. "

What does "suspended for two years" mean?

And since she willfully prevented the one paramedic from administering CPR on the patient, why is she not being prosecuted for attempted murder or manslaughter? Plus assault on the paramedic?

What that would mean in this case, I believe, is that Avery was given a two year probationary period. If she offends again, she will face five months in prison. If not, then she won't.

              I could be wrong, though.

Holy smoke, so basically she goes home and nothing happens to her?

That would be taken outside court, there's no photography allowed in courts in the UK.

Thank God for the move over laws in FL or that bitch would've had her ass handed to her for that one! My heart goes out to that patient's family.

I've found out through a rather less salubrious website that she also had her driving licence revoked for 3 years.

My best friend who did EMS at school for four years (Emergency Medical Services) said she can't be charged with attempted murder or manslaughter because when they are performing CPR on you, you are already considered dead. Can't kill a dead person.

My guess at the two year suspended comment probably means her license is suspended for two years. Personally I don't think she should ever be behind the wheel of a car.

The paramedic said he looked across and saw Avery and a male passenger laughing and making obscene gestures.
i think this sums it up perfectly

Nope. Nothing to do with her licence. As was pointed out, it'll only go into effect if she offends again.

While I see the point of "can't kill a dead person" there ought to be something that can be brought against her. If I recall the article correctly they said if her actions had contributed to the patient's death it would have been worse for her, so I guess the paramedics were able to state that they didn't actually have any effect, which is at least reassuring. Whether she got in trouble for it or not, she probably didn't have anything to do with the patient's failure to be resuscitated.
