  • Finally a friend in the news for waiters!

(Mods, feel free to move as you see fit.)

I was reading MSN, and saw this. Made me happy to see someone to step up for waiter's rights.

Excellent article and very true about what they said about the restaurant biz. The only thing I might differ on is the gratuity part because not all restaurants have the policy to add 18-20% gratuity for large parties of x amount of people or more. But sometimes you do have some unscrupulous waiters that overcharge you to get a bigger tip from the check. I worked at a local Italian (family owned) restaurant as a Hostess and what I hated was how SC's liked to pull that "I know [owner's name]" card as their excuse to be assholes and make out of this world demands.

Somehow I see that not so much encouraging better customer behavior as encouraging people to stay home.

I didn't really see this as an article sticking up for waiters. In fact, it kind of makes them seem to be lazy, dishonest jerks.

It says they'll tamper with your food if you make them angry (which i know most of the wonderful waiters out there like the ones who frequent this site would never do), it says they'll try to trick you into giving them an extra tip by accident on big group bills, and it pretty much says that they'll come to work and pretty much sneeze in your soup.

I did like #12 though. That's one that I'm sorry to say hadn't occurred to me. I'll be sure to make up for it in the future.

Ahhh, this is from the Waiter Rant guy ^_^ -- Somehow, I suspect that the original was probably more tongue-in-cheek, and that the context was left out here. Whoever copy-pasted the article didn't seem too flattering, in any case, or they would have tried harder/entered a caveat or two (as in YMMV or words to that effect)

              Wrong forum, and a duplicate.
