What's everyone's opinion of it now that it's out? Worth the money or no?

Well, I am enjoying it, it is a bit different from the betas of other MMORPGs [the landscape and such are actually different from the beta environment of the ones previous to the final open beta instead of the same like most other MMORPGs I beta tested]

It is a nice break from WoW, though the mana recovery is old school Everquest [sit down and meditate, and slow so you end up drinking potions]

The vendor provided potions suck, barely do anything. The vendor provided stat foods/drinks only last 15 minutes instead of an hour, and are barely effective. I havent done much with cooking or alchemy yet ao I cant attest to the player made goodies.

I currently have one character of each base class to level 11/12, um, chanter, ranger, templar and the mage pet class name escapes me right now =)and have only PVE so far, but it is reasonably easy to solo at the lower levels. i did each character to their level in about 6 hours of play for each.

Graphically it is pleasant to see, gameplay is reasonably easy. There are queues right now at the high population times [weekends and evenings when the kids play] which will probably ease up as the nintendroids get bored and move on to another new shiney game.

If you want to give it a try, i can scrounge my server and name info. Im playing the angelic looking race right now [have not played long enough to memorize my server details and fricklety game name details yet ... ]

I would love to play this, but unfortunately my computer will likely explode if I get the install disk anywhere near it. It looks so pretty though!

Its running the Far Cry engine, which is a very sleek piece of work. So its no where near as hard on a system as you'd think. Easier on a system than Warhammer was, and Warhammer looked like ass sandwich. >.>

            Playing on Zikel/Asmo side atm.

Odd complaint, every mmo is like that. Low level and vendor bought stuff is crap. Player made is where it's at. Never once had any need to actually *buy* potions so far though. Get enough from drops, and dropped ones are quite effective.

I am asmodean on Israphel, names are Sonnenschein, Sonnenstrahl, Sonnenblum and Sonnenchen

I am whatever the opposite of asmodean is on Lumiel, same 4 names =)

I have one character of each base class in each racial. On Lumiel I am in the 12-14 range, just starting out on Israphel.

No guild yet, just soloing along. I will probably start to work on alchemy and cooking when I hit 20 or so.

Crafted gear is actually better than a lot of drop gear in Aion. Keep that in mind. The stats are similar, but crafted gear has more manastone slots. So a crafting profession is a good idea. As player made stuff is generally superior to everything cept the pvp gear.

Also, gathering and crafting gives you exp. <3

I'm playing an Elyos Chanter on Azphel. So far I am really enjoying the game. I do have a few complaints, the biggest of which I think is that so far quite a few things seem extremely cost prohibitive. Most especially the cost to expand your inventory gets insanely ridiculous really fast. I don't know if money comes easier later, but right now at level 18 its a real pain to keep up with everything I want to do.

I have 2 crafts, Alchemy and Armor Smithing. I will agree with GK that the player made items far outshine most anything you can buy from vendors and even some drops.

Right now with the first 2 out of I don't know how many inventory expansions I run into an issue where I keep my crafting materials in my bank (warehouse) when I'm not using them just to save the room. It's going to cost me almost 60k to upgrade my inventory again which to me is just plain nuts.

My second largest complaint is being charged to set my bind point. That just seems silly to me on a personal level. I'm sure there is some good in game reason, I hope...

Overall though Aion is a refreshing change because it does do things differently. The flying part is fun, the combat is fairly interactive and challenging (stupid dukaki flag bearers grrrr (anyone who has fought these will know what i mean))

I think its worth checking out and trying if you were at all interested in doing so.

I am really enjoying it a lot, but the damned gold spammers need to go. It was iffy when they were just whispering, you could go anon and they stopped whispering you, but now they are spamming trade and general chat...

At least they are not yet spamming the class specific channels.

Although, realistically making gold is amazingly simple, almost every humanoid carries gold. Though for the heck of it I did the carry the item quest for the teleport dude, made 30K gold and got me some good exercise
