Eep. O_o How could doctors make that kind of mistake?

Apparently, it was a very faint heartbeat.

So, what you think? Major lawsuit, or will the parents be too happy their kid is alive?

He's in Paraguay, not the US so I doubt he'll sue. Thank god he opened the coffin, though!

They updated it today, the baby died. At first the doctors thought it was a girl, but in actuality it was a boy and was somewhere around 1 pound.

Well at 1 pound I can honestly see why there was confusion on whether or not the baby was even alive in the first place.

I cant imagine a 1 lb'er even surviving without some serious health issues. Poor baby. R.I.P.

FWIW, I was just over a pound when I was born (3 months early). Aside from some breathing issues (I'd forget to breathe from time to time; they put me on a special mattress to track it.), I'm perfectly healthy now. Granted, I *know* I'm the exception, but miracles can and do happen. I grieve for the baby and the family.

Oh, and your tool box called...you got out again.

I think the family has a very good case to sue. It would have crossed my mind after making sure my son was okay and being taken care of by the hospital.

I can't believe that a hospital would put a family through the worst thing ever without being damn sure the baby was dead.

Don't hospitals usually ask the parents if they want an autopsy done? I'm glad that wasn't done to that poor baby before he was really dead.

Anyway, I'm probably not the best person to ask.
