It started out that people were worried that Disney would alter the Marvel characters... Now I'm worried that Brian Bendis would alter Disney's characters...

Darkwing Duck all grim'n'gritty? Drake disappears and Gosalyn becomes the new Darkwing? Gizmoduck leads the charge for super-hero registration? Morgana goes crazy and removes all super-powers?

        I'd mark for that.

Maybe DC could do the same thing with the Looney Tunes.

Batman: Its criminal what some people will stoop to to get a little advantage. Catapults... Boomerangs... Rockets on everything. The equipment is dangerous... It could hurt innocent people. And the people who use it are worse. The time has come. I can't stand for this any longer. Its time for Batman to take down Acme.

My prediction: It's only a matter of time before we see a Disney animated adaptation of Peter Porker, the Spectacular Spider-Ham
            Oh Jack. That's just wrong.

My optimistic take on it is that Disney learned a valuable "outsourcing" lesson during the Pixar acquisition and will try to absorb full production teams that add to their reach without needing a lot of hand holding (or meddling with). Fingers crossed.

I'm not optimistic, but we'll see.

              I will say this:

If Disney screws with the Iron Man movies, I will be PISSED. Iron Man was my fav film of 2008.

I don't know, Disney has always been pretty cutting edge on alot of stuff. Just take a look at Fantasia, it wallowed in obscurity until the 60's when people started appreciating what it was. They've had some pretty dark themes in their cartoons (Bambi's mother dies, Dumbo gets rejected and his mom suffers because of it, there was the Dark Cauldren). They took a pretty leading edge in bringing Pixar to the forefront. When there were movies that they didn't want to tie the Disney name to it, they created Miramax and Touchstone. I think they were also pretty instrumental in making full length IMAX movies (if I recall, Fantasia 2000 was the first full length IMAX movie). And for the people that complain that Disney will somehow mess with Marvel....why should they when Marvel does a fine job of that on its own?

GAH! No! BAD! I love Miramax films, so I cannot let that untruth stand. Disney did not create Miramax. They bought Miramax in 1993. From the founders, the Weinsteins, who went on to create the Weinstein company, and continue the fine work they'd started.

Oh they better not mess up the Iron Man movies, or the upcoming Avengers movie.

I think we should wait and see what happens before we really judge this as a good/bad thing.
That's pretty much my take on this. I fretted about them buying Pixar but it turned out to be pretty Ok in the end.Pixar is still putting out their great movies even being under the Disney banner, so I have hope.

Then again, you never know how these mergers are gonna go...
