  • Waiter fired for tweeting about no tip celebrity

    http://omg.yahoo.com/news/hollywood-...s-job/29109?nc

So this guy waits on some celebrity I've never heard of, she says she forgot her wallet and asks if she can go get it---it's a $14 tab, so he lets her. Instead, she never comes back. So he tweets about it, and eventually her agent calls and pays it over the phone, leaving him no tip. So he tweets about that. She comes in at some point later and slams 3 dollars down on his counter, angry because she found out he tweeted about it.

At some point later, management finds out about his tweets and immediately cans him with no warning.
Because as we all know, on the Internet all men are men, all women are men and all children are FBI agents.

Well I know in TX you can be fired for no reason by an employer at any time.

And, not being in the restaurant industry, is $14 really that much to get excited over?

Anyone skipping out on any cheque is something to be upset about, I'd say. And the perils of celebrity tend to be people know who you are, so if you cheap out, you're probably going to be called on it. That said, management is kinda right to fire someone trash-talking customers, even if it's mild.

Well apparently in his tweet he stated it was the principle of the thing.

A wealthy celebrity skips out on a measly $13 bill, which will probably have to come out of his paycheck, and only when he tweets about it for others to read does she have her agent call and pay it. And then they don't bother to leave a tip, even after he trusted her when she stated she had to go out and get her wallet out of her car. He's probably had it happen to him several times before, it unfortunately happens often to waiters, and he got tired of it and tweeted when a celebrity did it.

$14, $1.40, $140 - it doesn't matter the amount. Not paying a bill at a resturant is theft IMO (and it is in every state - or something similar). Leaving no tip because they called you out on that is being an asshole.

I don't know the celeb but I'm sure she wouldn't hesitate to use the "don't you know who I am" line.

FL is another right to work state too. Anything where you can get a tip, especially on a slow night is something to get excited about. Maybe that's just me since I was once a hostess at a local Italian restaurant and I rarely got tips.

this only makes the actress look bad

so is she going to complain about everyone else who re-tweets this and demand they all get punished too?

Actress needs to be met by the boys in blue and charged with theft of services. Just because Hollywood know's their name doesn't mean they are above the law.

She's probably most known for playing Niles's girlfriend (and wife, briefly) on Frasier (who he leaves for Daphne). Right now she's in the show Hung (which from what I hear is not that good).

I am reminded of Scottie "No Tippin'" Pippen of the Chicago Bulls. He was universally reviled by waitstaff wherever he decided to dine or otherwise party.
