Trailer trash, yes, red neck, no, that's quite different. The difference between chav and trailer trash though is that the UK doesn't have much in the way of trailer parks, so they had to come up with a different name.

(Also, noting now, the phrase 'trailer trash' does not mean that everyone who lives in trailers is trash, please no one take it as such.)

Funny, when I think of a chav I'm thinking of something that resembles a "wangster" more than trailer trash.

Trailer trash =/= Red neck. There is a huge difference.

I'm not even familiar with wanksta but you could be right - most trailer trash aren't loud and obnoxious on their cell phones.

whenever i see or hear the word "chav" these days i think of the scene from doctor who when Cassandra possesses Rose... and looks into the mirror. "Oh my god, I'm a chav!"
