  • From Insiderpages: Garden Ridge

I saw this on a blog. I'm leaning toward the patron being sucky when trying to get a price difference. Unless the store had a policy that they will refund the difference within a certain time period.

On Saturday, 11/3/07, I purchased an artificial Christmas tree from Garden Ridge for the sale price of $223.00 <snip>

Saw a similar story on I think Not Always Right.

"If it was $25 dollars more, would you come back and pay us?"

    Seriously, who does that?

Once I pay for something, unless there was a problem with the item or a mistake AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE, I wouldn't even think of trying to get money back.

In the call center I used to work in, we'd get that ALL THE TIME when stuff would go on sale.

Customer would buy Frontline Plus for $60 (prices made up since I don't know the going retail price)

The following week, the same product would go on sale for $50.

Customer would call us and demand a refund for the $10 difference in price.

We'd always do it, as long as it was in about 1-2 weeks of when they purchased the item.

Customers are really notorious for doing the same thing when we'd offer shipping and handling breaks, like around the holidays.

Obnoxiously cheap people. This describes at least half the people living in Cheeselandialand.

Why should we take a hit because your timing sucks? Stores generally want to sell things at the highest price they can, y'know.

To be fair, there are price match policies at some companies. I bought my TV from a store on November 1st. If it goes on sale (at their store or any of their competitors) before November 30th, I can get a price adjustment.

There are some online stores who do the same thing. I actually just requested a price match at deepdiscount.com because a DVD I bought it cheaper at Amazon today.

It's not sucky if you play within the rules.

The other thing the sc complained about was being told to bring back the tree. I can see the store saying, "return the tree, we will give you a full refund, then you can buy the tree at this week's sale price." Though I don't see stores giving refunds on seasonal stuff to begin with.
