How not to "save the economy"

That's actually really good, I don't always see that much savings. And I very rarely see the kind of savings this lady got!

I don't see anything wrong with what she does. Maybe a little on the "you have too much spare time on your hands for this" crazy. The companies put the pieces on the table, and she just goes at it like she's Godzilla in Tokyo.

That's the way I look at it, too. It would be nice to save the money, and I might do it if it saving that kind of money was a necessity, but I don't have the patience or the attention span to do that kind of research. I use coupons where I can (I try to only clip the ones for things I already use, and not buy things just because I have a coupon...though I do occasionally use coupons to justify a treat) but I wouldn't sit down with a stack of circulars and match them all up to the sales...when I can I go to the store that generally has the best prices (it's not always the most convenient), and use coupons when I can, but I'm not going to go crazy over it.

Hey, technically, she's not cheating the system, she's just using it to her ultimate advantage. Yeah, it takes a lot of time and research to do it, but if you know how to go about it, you can legitly save a huge amount of money. I've had several customers in the past who are like that (though not as extreme).

In the end, the stores make up they money by people who aren't using coupons, the buisness it brings along (a sale is a sale), and the rembursement from the manufacturer's coupons. People who bargain hunt to that extreme aren't terribly common, since it takes a lot of time and research to do it, so it's not like it's making a MASSIVE negative impact on the store, or the economy for that matter.

I wish we had things like that in SA. Coupons haven't really taken off here. Oh, we have loyalty cards at a couple places where you get "points" and "cash back vouchers", but I would love to be able to save a couple bucks on my groceries every month...

Mind you, her stockpile is freaking scary....
