  • God of Death. At the airport...

A 26-Foot-Tall Anubis Statue Installed At Denver International Airport

Apparently it's presence has started a bit of controversy.... not because the statue is that of an Egyptian God, but that it's the Egyptian god of Death.

    Next to an Airport.

I'll probably go to hell for laughing.

And for thinking "Wait, I thought Daniel defeated Anubis..."

Not actually the god of Death, mummification and the afterlife yeah, but not death itself, Of the dead but not of Death.

Glorified accountant, weighs your soul and if you're a bad one, feeds you to the gators.

Pfft, Daniel didn't defeat him, Oma is just keeping him busy

Osiris was the ruler of the dead.....after he was killed and put back together. Anubis became a psychopomp when that happened.
I have a...thing. Wanna see it?

I think a statue of Ammit might be a better bet.

Since he's the god of judgment, he MIGHT make passengers think twice about how they treat their flight attendants and fellow passengers, juuussst in case they do happen to crash later!

Should I be scared I'm going to be flying into and out of that airport in September?

Personally I think it is really cool that they're doing this - but why are they doing it? Is it to bring awareness to history or are they just doing an ancient Egyptian style decoration?

I got news for you. In Denver airport, putting up something like that is pretty much not only business as usual, but tame by comparison.

I suspect if you google "fucked up", Denver airport will be the number one hit that comes up.

Ow. That site hurt my head. The misinterpretation and conspiracy-theorizing is running rampant.

I'm gonna go soak my brain in booze now.

(I've been to DIA. It's not nearly as sinister as that site makes it sound. There are oddities, but it's not *that* weird.)
