  • And Speaking of 60's retro tv remakes . . .

Just a moment ago, I found this article:
    http://www.fusedfilm.com/2010/04/the...n-with-remake/

I'm ready to into my Canadian Pepsi now.

Send booze, as I may empty the bar by morning. I have a funny feeling this will be the kind of remake with the original characters set modern day, rather than a second-generation type storyline.

        That's what I read . . . sad to say.

I guess I can still write that second gen story and add it to my website when I get around to it. Right now I'm trying to finish the sequel to the first one I wrote.

But still . . .why can't they just leave it alone?

The only saving grace I can see for this is if they cast David McCallum in the film in some form (he was Ilya Kurayakin in the original)

Nah, but he is charming in a grandfatherly kind of way. I also highly recommend The Great Escape for David McCallum pre-Man from UNCLE.

I was in "love" with McCallum when that show was on. Robert Vaughn (Napoleon Solo) has been on several Law and Orders in the past-as a really rich, self-entitled, mean guy.

Kinda like the folks we talk about on this site, but without the rich part.

Did you ever catch Sapphire & Steel? That starred David McCallum with Joanna Lumly. All this talk is making me want to find it for a re-watch

I've never had the opportunity to catch that one down here so far. I'm not sure it that one has been broadcast here in the US - but it's on my to watch list.

FOX had a short lived series back in the mid 90's called VR.5 starring Lori Singer that was awesome, but it only lasted 13 episodes before it was canceled.

Pity. That was actually a good show.

I've not heard of that one, something for me to look out for

If they do to "The Man From U.N.C.L.E." what they did to "The Avengers", there will be hell to pay...

EDIT: The only good thing about remakes is that the originals finally appear on DVD... Wait, are they on DVD already? I haven't seen them.

I agree wholeheartedly. I always wanted a new version to be based on one of my stories. Of course, if it were, I'd probably turn the wives loose. But then, would the world really be safe with Lynda and Brenda running amok with exotic weaponry? Might be safer with Cheech and Chong . . .but I digress.

The complete collection is available through Time-Life, but it's rather expensive. However, I did find a site where the prices are much more affordable. Come Hell or high water, next month I'll have my set from this site.
