14 year-old arrested for attempted "abduction"

Please read the article to get the full picture. It's a bit sickening that charges are being brought on a 14 year old that was trying to do something good.

Wow, that does suck. It's cases like this that make it so nobody wants to help anybody for fear of being made to look like a criminal. I've read how some employees do not even want to risk getting close to a lost child for fear they'll be acused of doing something inappropriate.

There's a very DIFFERENT interpretation of the incident here with the 911 call. The employee said the teen lured the child away from the mother while they were both in the checkout line.

And then the video here; there's really no way to tell the woman at the register is with the kid, and the kid simply follows him. It sure took the mother long enough to realize her child was gone. But yeah, it doesn't look good for Edwin at all, though the fact that he came back to the store would make you think that abduction and getting away was not his plan.

if the girl's mother isn't pressing charges
i am hoping she'll be willing to testify in his defense

yes he might not have thought clearly
but it's kinda obvious he wasn't trying to abduct her

so according to this article, taking her hand is imprisoning her?

You know, if I were Edwin's mother I'd be filing a defamation of character suit against that female prosecutor. And the sheriff. And the clerk at the store. And the kid's mother. And . . .

Don't forget the half-informed news crew.

The prosecutor - yes, especially if he's found not guilty.

The sheriff's officer was just doing his job.

The mother didn't have all the facts of what was going on and the 14 year old apparently could pass for an adult. After she got the facts, she did NOT want to press charges.

The clerk - I do not know but I think he should have at least contacted a manager before calling 911 (call the manager, then call 911 immediately after calling the manager).

Media - go after them, too. Sure they tried to be "sensitive" about his age - yeah, right.

The poor kid will now have a record. Yes, he left the store with the girl but the reports seem to say he stayed right in front of the store. If he was trying to abduct her, he would have left right away and continued walking.
