Joke my ass. People say "I was joking" when they do or say something despicable and then don't have the berries to own it.
Precisely. "I was only kidding!" or "It was just a joke!" is the mantra of bullies who get caught in wrongdoing and are trying to cover their asses.
    Quoth nasty cat-hating bitch
"I don't know what came over me, but I suddenly thought it would be funny to put it in the wheelie bin which was right beside me. I did it as a joke because I thought it would be funny. I never thought it would be trapped. I expected it to wriggle free."
How the hell does she expect a small cat to "wriggle free" of a tall trash can with nearly-vertical sides and a heavy lid?! And who the hell would think that was funny (aside from other animal abusers)? No wonder she now needs police protection. Loads of people are up in arms over her and her stunt, and I bet the cops who are protecting her would just as soon step aside and let mob justice take over. Maybe even pick her up and dump her into this bin >

    Exactly.

I'm sure it wasn't funny to either the cat or it's family.

Jokes are funny . . . that was not in the least.

From what I understand from the articles, the homeowner installed the camera.

I don't see intentionally dumping a pet in a bin as a joke at all. Not funny. At all. How would she like it if somebody did that to her and said it was just a joke?!!

I reckon she's done this before, and she's only sorry cuz she got caught.

Also, loads of serial killers and child abusers start out abusing animals first; so I have to wonder too if she's done anything like this before. I bet she has.

My first thought when I saw this clip on my local news was that the cat belonged to this person, who can't understand normal thinking, and that perhaps in these tight times she couldn't afford to care for it. Perhaps it was ill and she couldn't afford the cost for treatment. Not that that would excuse her behavior.

To find out it was a "joke", or something done on a whim, is even worse in my mind. At least in the other scenario, emotional distress on her part could play into it, and indicate she wasn't thinking clearly.

What should happen to her? She should be made to pull some good, long hours at the RSCPA, (did I get that right? I'm a Yank, ) cleaning the animal cages of all kinds of waste and excrement, to maybe turn her stomach a bit, and she should be made to hold each and every sick, aged, and unwanted animal that has to be put down, and perhaps put a little bit of pain in whatever she may have that resembles a heart.

"A joke"?! Her looking around on the footage says to me that she intended all along to do it.

Poor kitty. *sends Lola plenty of e-snuggles*

She claimed she was sorry, but...

So, apparently it was a joke, and she doesn't see what the fuss is about because "it was only a cat"
She's sorry she got caught. Where's that roaring lion from my last post.

Let's put her in a bin for 16 hours and see how she likes it.
Make sure to feed her ex-lax-laced power bran flakes first, as the poor cat was stuck in its own waste

Unfortunatley, people rarely get to her age and this be a "first occurence" of such behaviour.I wonder what else she's done and not got caught.

You can see her looking around as she pet the cat, she intended to do it all along. How sick is that? If you don't like cats why even bother stopping to pet it? Just keep walking and ignore it. That woman has issues.
I reckon she stroked the cat to gain its trust first. Sick.
