Ok, to play devil's advocate:
DEER are ringing her doorbell, at early hours, (which i dunno 'bout you, but that would make me cranky)
She can get fined for feeding the wildlife
and despite attempts to make them go away the are still getting in her yard - around/over a fence, and destroying her property by eating her flowers despite there being a spray on the flowers that is supposed to make the deer not want to eat them....

and because shes inside the city limits, she can't shoot the dang thing!

btw - anybody else heard of Lyme disease? you can get it from ticks that feed off of DEER - so I don't know that I would want them on my property either!

I'd be peeved too - don't know that I'd want an article about in my newspaper - but I'd be more than a little irritated.

I hadn't actually given the 'other side' much thought.
I tend to go with my gut when posting and my first instinct was: this is a funny situation.
After thinking about it a little more, I can understand that it must be frustrating for her.

1 - She's not feeding them, they're grazing in her yard.
2 - Anyone who has dealt with deer in the past will tell you that unless said fence is 20 feet tall and is at least solid concrete it is going to do squat all.
3 - The deer is desperate enough to risk wandering into an area with far more dangers for food. I doubt a silly little spray to make flowers taste bad is going to deter it.

True, but if she looks out the window at the right moment and sees the deer pressing its nose to the doorbell, that answers that question.

Yeah, the mental picture is funny, but I can see why it would be annoying. To say nothing of the $$$ she'd have to put up to make her property more deer-proof (a tall block fence, as lordlundar mentioned, isn't cheap).

I was thinking this over, and some doorbells I have encountered have flip-open cases. I suggest she get such.
